2015 Southeast Regional IDeA Conference
Biloxi, MS @ the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino
November 11-13, 2015
The SE IDeA ’15 meeting was held on November 11-13, 2015 at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Around 400 guests from 55 institutions, including 109 students, enjoyed scientific sessions in the largest resort in the Southeast to receive the AAA Four Diamond award. The Beau Rivage offered a wonderful backdrop to showcase some of the best research the Southeast Regional IDeA Program has to offer. With seven states being represented in over 200 poster presentations and 40 oral presentations, every researcher was certain to find something of interest.
On Wednesday, November 11, attendees began the meetings festivities at a Welcome Reception held at the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum in Biloxi, Miss. The mission of the museum is to preserve the maritime heritage of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It accomplishes this mission through an array of exhibits on shrimping, oystering, recreational fishing, wetlands, managing marine resources, charter boats, marine blacksmithing, wooden boat building, netmaking, catboats/Biloxi skiff, shrimp peeling machine and numerous historic photographs and objects. Guests enjoyed guided tours and networking. Please visit their website for more information about the museum.
Thank you to each researcher, student, administrator and everyone in between for making this a memorable conference. We look forward to seeing further collaborations as a result of this meeting.
